Silicone is naturally unaffected by ozone, ultraviolet, acid rain, age
and even temperatures to 400°F. It is one of the toughest materials
on earth when it comes to resisting the aging effects of weather.
Unlike normal rubber, silicone rubber lasts for years. The first use
of silicone rubber was on search light gaskets on battleships during World
War II. Silicone rubber was on the soles of the boots used for the first
moon landing in 1969.
Silicone is unaffected by extreme cold to -80°F. In addition silicone
is a natural water & ice repellent which reduces snow and ice buildup.
That’s why most aerospace rubber products are made from silicone.
SpectrumBlades® are specially formulated to deposit
a "molecular matrix" that causes water to bead up on contact
with the windshield. The result is an improved view of the road ahead.
In addition, the same features that cause the water to bead up also help
keep ice and snow from adhering to the glass. The best part is no routine
applications of chemical treatments are necessary to maintain the beading
effect. It will last for a lifetime of the windshield wipers.
